Projects
The San Diego Parents for Education is dedicated to supporting school board candidates in San Diego county. We are a group of parents, grandparents, community members and concerned citizens in San Diego. Our group is on a mission to safeguard public education, revive educational excellence and improve academic accountability.
We endorse school board candidates who are:
1. For improving quality of public education;
Public K-12 education has been besieged by threats of mediocrity, low-performance and indoctrination. In 2023, only 46% of California students in grades 3-8 and 11 achieved English proficiency and over 65% could not do math at the grade level.* To make matters worse, most, if not all, public K-12 school districts in San Diego have engaged in the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and critical ethnic studies to varying degrees.** San Diego families and students, especially those who can't afford alternative schooling options, desperately need better school instruction, curriculums, programs and activities.
2. For academic and fiscal transparency;
Public schools are publicly funded by taxpayers. Parents, community members and taxpayers are important local stakeholders for public education. All public school districts have a responsibility to publicly post and make publicly available all training and educational materials, curriculum, handouts, activities, external speakers, and agendas used to train or educate staff. School board members must engage, rather than antagonize these local stakeholders. Schools can and should work with parents for the common purpose of improving education.
3. Not endorsed by any teachers' union;
We love all educators, especially teachers who take on the sacred task of educating the next generation on a daily basis. However, teachers' unions are neither vehicles for making education work, nor faithful representatives of good teachers. By prioritizing political agendas such as ideological indoctrination of our children, transgenderism, far-left foreign policies, and so on, teachers' unions have become agents and partisans that sacrifice learning and education at the altar of their radical politics. By stifling healthy competition and assaulting meritocracy, teachers' unions are pushing out good teachers who excel in teaching and replacing them with teacher activists who want to indoctrinate.
